Tuesday of last week (May 12) things got exciting at Houston’s Hobby Airport. While I was waiting on my return home flight at 8:25 PM – that was delayed till 8:45 PM – but didn’t depart till 9:20 PM – at about 7:45 PM I heard a loud BOOOM! When I looked up I saw smoke and fire coming from a Southwest plane that had just landed!! A tire caught fire as the plane landed. When the plane came to stop passengers used the emergency chutes to get to safety. Actually from my vantage point it didn’t look that bad – then again I wasn’t on the plane.
The video is below –
Before we departed our pilot made the following comments, “How many of you saw the plane land that had the problem?” Several hands went up. Then he asked, “How many of you are nervous now about flying?” Some now put both hands up!!! I THOUGHT ABOUT CALLING GREYHOUND!!! Then he said, “I promise we don’t plan to do that on this flight!” The passenger next to me leaned over and said, “I’m sure those other pilots weren’t trying to do that either!!!” I would agree.
Oh yeah I made it home fine!!
